Barry’s Bay BIA Pushing Health Unit to Change COVID Hot Spot Status

Barry’s Bay BIA says they are working with Madawaska valley Township and the Health Unit on changing the town’s COVID hot spot status.

The BIA wants the term changed because the covid cases in Madawaska Valley do not reflect calling the area a hot spot. They call the designation damaging to the community.

A meeting was held between Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Cushman, BIA members Neil O’Reilly and Derek Yuill, as well as Madawaska Valley CAO Sue Klatt held a Zoom meeting last week. They are hoping a change in wording will come soon from the Health Unit.
