The Township of Madawaska Valley and the Renfrew County District Health Unit are issuing a clarification on Barry’s Bay COVID hotspot status.

The Township says that the region that the Unit considers Barry’s Bay, includes three neighbouring Townships of Killaloe Hagarty Richards, Brudenelle Lyndoch Raglan, South Algonquin, as well as Madawaska Valley. Those four townships have had a total of 27 cases as a unit, and are not just in the town of Barry’s Bay. The latest case breakdown provided by the health unit shows Madawaska Valley showing 1 to 4 active cases of COVID-19 as of last Wednesday.

The township would like to remind the community that all non-essential travel is still discouraged by the province and the health unit.
