The Renfrew County District Health Unit is calling the Barry’s Bay Area a hotspot for cases

They say since January 1st, the area has had 27 of the 47 total cases. Acting medical officer of health Dr. Robert Cushman says while there is no direct cause for this trend, local stores have had complaints about people not wearing masks. He also says the health unit has heard of anti-mask protests and post-secondary students not complying.

Cushman raised the possibility of more stringent rules in the Barry’s Bay area, but for now, urges residents to be vigilant and protect themselves.
