Ontario’s first case of the COVID-19 P1 variant first found in Brazil was reported on Sunday.
Toronto Public Health released a statement saying a resident tested positive for the more contagious P1 mutation.
The health unit says the person had recently travelled to Brazil and is now hospitalized.

The statement also confirmed Toronto’s first case of the South African COVID-19 variant was found.
