Ontario SPCA: Protect Your Pets as Colder Weather Sets In

With the cold weather finally here, the Ontario SPCA is urging people to keep an eye on their pets when they’re outdoors.

They say that people should supervise pet’s time outside, and always watch them so you don’t get distracted. Keeping an eye on your pets allows you to spot the early warning signs that they may be in trouble, like excessive shivering. They also suggest shortening dog walks and cleaning your pet’s paws afterwards.

When it comes to your vehicle, the SPCA says you should give your car hood a few knocks to get cats looking for warmth out of your car. They also say that you should also never leave your pet in a car during the winter months.

If you see an animal in distress, SPCA suggests calling the Government Animal Cruelty Hotline at 1-833-926-4625.
