Ontario Government Pauses Evictions During State of Emergency

For the second time during the pandemic, Ontario is pausing evictions.

The government issued the emergency order that will last until the end of the second state of emergency declared on Tuesday. That means tenants will not be evicted and it also protects homeowners from foreclosure. A government spokesperson says it will ensure that no one is forced from their homes during the stay-at-home order.

Evictions can still be carried out if there is found to be what the government calls an urgent situation, such as illegal activity.
