A winter camping trip in Algonquin Park could have ended much worse if it wasn’t for emergency services.

Killaloe OPP say they responded on Sunday to a missing persons call in the park. Police say that a group of park-goers had set up camp in the Western Uplands Trail area. OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Aviation services, paramedics and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center were called out for the search. OPP say that all groups except the canine unit had to be called off due to poor weather conditions.

A 25-year-old from Richmond Hill was found 8 kilometres deep in the park. He was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening, exposure-related injuries.
