The Township of Hastings Highlands has weighed in on the Exotic Animal Owner in Maynooth.

Mayor Vic Bodnar says that their planning department has received what they call “preliminary details around a safari experience concept”. However, they say that no commercial use has been created on any property and there is as of yet no application in the works to do so. They say that simply owning exotic animals does not contravene any existing municipal bylaw.

The township says they are reviewing the matter and keeping its eye on the situation. They also say they will follow the advice of their lawyer.
