An event is being held tomorrow to help parents improve their childs literacy.
The event is called The Power of Literacy: Empowering Parents to empower their Children, and will give parents tools and strategies to support their childs education.
Program Coordinator of the Ontario Early Years Child and Family Centre of North Hastings Children Services Sarah Phoenix says good literacy skills are crucial in developing reading, writing, math and social skills, along with any other aptitudes they will require in later years.
Phoenix says this is especially important in the North Hastings area, as local students score very low in literacy skills on their EQAO tests.
The event will be held tomorrow at the Hastings Highlands Public Library from 11:00am until 2:00pm, and is open to parents of children up to grade three.
