Renfrew County has received a petition to stop 5G towers from coming to the area.

County Council received the information during a council meeting this week. The petition calls 5th and fourth-generation wireless networks harmful to public health and says there has been no consultation with the public. The petition has called for an end to all construction of new cell antennas and the removal of all towers put up without the approval of landowners.
Tabled along with the petition was the Eastern Ontario Regional Network project’s information on what regulations and health protocols they follow. Members of Council said they will be receiving more information from them in the coming months.
During the meeting, Mayors from North Algona-Wilberforce and Bonnchere Valley townships have said their residents have raised concerns over new 5G networks.
