The Renfrew County District Health Unit is reporting a student at another school in the district has tested positive for Covid-19.

The lab-confirmed case at Herman Street Public School in Petawawa was also confirmed by the school board. All students and staff who are considered a close contact of the case have been directed to go home immediately and self isolate. The school board says that school is still open for in-person learning.

This comes after a student tested positive for the Coronavirus at Opeongo High School. The health unit says they are working closely with the school board to ensure all measures are in place to protect staff and students. The unit says they are actively investigating the new case and will contact all high-risk contacts within 24 hours.

Any high-risk contacts must self isolate for 14 days and self-monitor for symptoms. They are also urged t call RC VTAC (1-844-727-6404) to book an appointment. They say even if your test result comes back negative, you must continue your 14-day isolation in case the disease is developing at the time of the test.

There are currently 12 active cases in Renfrew County and District as of October 26th. 11 are self-isolating and one is in intensive care.
