A car was stolen from a resident on Thompson Street in Pembroke.

The owner says the car was left unlocked overnight and the keys were inside. The maroon four-door 2014 Ford Escape SUV was stolen around 5 AM on September 28th.

Just two hours later, the OPP report another car was stolen from a business parking lot on Pembroke Street East. That vehicle has also been left unlocked with its keys inside. Police say it was later abandoned and set on fire on Irving Street.

The OPP say another incident happened on Nelson Street between September 26th and 27th. The ignition on a parked car was damaged, but the car was not stolen.

With these incidents in mind, the OPP says you need to make sure you lock your car and keep the keys with you, roll up your vehicle windows and park in a well-lit area if possible. They say doing this reduces the chances of your car getting stolen.

If you have any information on these incidents, reach out to the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-733-3332.
