Health Unit Gets Provincial Meeting to Discuss Paper

Haliburton’s Health Unit is hoping to meet with the province to request changes to a discussion paper.
The paper, called Putting Patients First, proposes links between the Local Health Integration Networks and public health units, with the group taking responsibility for accountability agreements with the units, as well as how provincial funds will be used.
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit says it has approved a motion to meet with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care about the proposal.
Board members want to hear directly from province to get a better idea on why the changes have been proposed, and for reassurance public health units will be maintained, and funding will not be redirected.
