After a third positive case of COVID-19 was tested in the school, the Renfrew County District Health Unit has ordered the closure of Fellowes High School.

The Health Unit says that the most recently identified case worked in three additional classrooms outside the contained area. The Unit reviewed the situation with both the provincial ministries of health and education and is working now to determine the full extent of the outbreak. The Unit is asking Fellowes High School staff and students to self-monitor for symptoms, and self isolate if they develop symptoms.

Meanwhile the Renfrew County District School Board says students will continue their learning online, and will work closely with public health to investigate. They ask that everyone do a self assessment before work or school, and call RCVTAC if you develop symptoms.

Acting Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Cushman, says it is a harsh lesson in how we conduct ourselves in the time of COVID-19. There are currently 7 active cases of Covid-19 in Renfrew County, all of which are in self isolation.
