Fatal Collision on Highway 41 Leaves One Dead

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP are still investigating the cause of a fatal accident that occurred on Highway 41
Police responded to a two vehicle collision on September 1st around 5 PM. Renfrew county paramedics along with firefighters from both North Algona-Wilberforce and Bonnechere Valley attended the accident north of Mountain Road. Police say that a southbound passenger car collided with a northbound van on a curve in the road. The driver of the passenger car was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries and later died. The 31 year old driver of the van was transported by ambulance a flown to an Ottawa Area Hospital. The two school aged children in the passenger van were not injured.
The deceased driver has been identified as Paula Bashford, 33, of Bonnechere Valley Township. Police say the road was closed from 5PM until 2AM the next day. An autopsy is planned and the forensic unit is continuing their investigation.
