If you have hazardous waste in the Madawaska Valley, this Saturday will be a good time to get rid of it.
The drop-off will be going down at the Yard 1 Municipal garage at the Paul J Yakabuski Centre. The lot will be open from 10 AM till 4 PM this Saturday, and is available only to residents of Madawaska Valley Township. The township says that hazardous waste will not be collected curbside, and to leave the materials in their original containers. They ask you to pack items securely in your vehicle to avoid mixing or spillage, and all liquids must be dropped off in a non-returnable container.
Things that will be accepted will include antifreeze, household cleaners, batteries and gas mixtures. Alkyd and Latex paints will be accepted, as well as pesticides, herbicides, turpentine and stain. Among things not accepted on Hazardous waste day include PCB contaminated waste, explosives, and radioactive, pathological, medical or industrial waste. They say that any type of waste that is unknown will also be rejected.
