Bancroft OPP was conducting radar enforcement along Highway 28 South in Haliburton last week when they caught a driver going 158 kilometres an hour in an 80 kilometres an hour zone.
The 19-year-old driver failed to stop when the officers attempted to pull the driver over. After driving into a ditch along Dyno Road, the officers arrested the person behind the wheel was arrested.
The Bancroft resident has been charged with driving while under suspension, pass of right – not in safety, race a motor vehicle – excessive speed, fail to stop for police, drive left of centre – approaching crest of grade.
The driver’s license was suspended for seven days and the vehicle was impounded. The driver was released on a summons to appear in court in Bancroft on October 6th.
