We now have a date for when masks will be mandatory in the Renfrew County District Health Unit.

Masks or face coverings will be required in enclosed public spaces starting Tuesday July 14th.

There will however be exemptions to the mandate. Children under two will not be required to wear face masks, as well as children under 5 who the health unit says chronologically or developmentally refuse to wear a mask and cannot be persuaded by a caregiver. In addition, individuals who have medical conditions that cannot allow them to safely wear a mask will be exempt. This includes those with breathing or cognitive difficulties. In addition, anyone who is unable to remove a mask without help will not be required to wear a mask. This includes anyone incapacitated or unconscious.

As of yesterday, the RCDHU had a total of 27 confirmed cases, including 2 in self isolation, 1 deceased, and 24 resolved. Yesterday also saw 15000 total tests completed.
