Despite fundraisers for long term care homes being cancelled, county-run long term care homes are adapting in an artistic way.

While normally fundraisers for long term care homes in the county would be going ahead, they had to be cancelled for the 2020 season due to COVID-19. However, long term care homes Miramichi Lodge and Bonnechere Manor have come up with a solution. Renfrew County says a local artist Janet Springer is creating stained glass butterflies, which are now available for sale. The money will be put towards transitioning the homes to the butterfly approach, a project that aims to improve the lives of long term residents. The long-term care homes says that each purchased butterfly will be displayed in a permanent art installation in each home.

Butterflies can be purchased for 100 dollars, and to for more information, call 613-432-4873 ext 1252 or by emailing lboldtjohnson@countyofrenfrew.on.ca
