Lowest number of new COVID-19 cases since March 31

It’s the lowest number of COVID-19 cases Ontario has seen since the end of March.

After a steady increase Ontario is reporting 287 new cases of COVID-19.  That brings the province’s total to 26,191.  There has been an increase in cases in 30 residents of long-term care homes and 25 staff over the last 24 hours.

Another 21 people have died bringing the death toll to 2,123.

Public Health Ontario reports 9,875 tests were done over the last day.

This is the lowest number of new cases since March 31st when 260 were reported.

Health Minister Christine Elliott said yesterday the recent spike in cases was likely due to people gathering in groups for Mother’s Day events.
