A local couple had a super close call on the Ottawa River.
On Monday two boaters on the Acres Road Boat Launch north of Renfrew noticed a boat heading towards some rapids. Renfrew OPP say that a short time later, they saw property floating down stream. The boaters contacted emergency services and officers with Renfrew OPP responded with marine officers, the Whitewater Fire Department, Renfrew County Paramedics and a number of local volunteers. A boat was found fully submerged in the rapids some time later.
A short time after that the local couple were located on the shore, having started a fire. The couple was transported home by paramedics, who reported they suffered no injuries.
