Renfrew County Employee’s COVID-19 Diagnosis a False Positive

A case of COVID-19 that had been diagnosed in a Renfrew County Employee working at Bonnchere Manor has come back negative.

The county said that on May 9th, a case involving the employee had been found after expanded testing was done. However, after being re-tested by LifeLabs, they found that this result was in error. As a result, Bonnechere Manor has withdrawn its outbreak status. Warden Debbie Robinson said that while it is an unfortunate incident, it demonstrates that the county’s long term care homes are prepared and took all necessary precautions.

Bonnechere Manor has written to LifeLabs requesting a written report about the incident and what corrective actions it is taking. Some surveillance has been taken for both Bonnechere Manor and Miramichi Lodge, with all long term care homes completing testing.
