Minimum Wage Set To Rise

The minimum wage is going up in Madawaska Valley, and across the province.
The provincial government has announced minimum wage will be going up to $11.40 starting in October.
The wage rates for liquor servers, students under 18, and hunting and fishing guides is also set to go up.
MPP for Prince Edward Hastings, Todd Smith, says there is some concern as the province will also be introducing the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan in 2017, which would reduce the take home pay by 1.9 per cent.

Smith says he’s worried increases to the minimum wage, along with the ORPP, the creation of a carbon tax, and the rising cost of Hydro, it will stunt job creation in the area.
