Some provincial highways in the area are getting some much needed funds to help resurface their roads.
As part of the Connecting Links Program, MPP John Yakabuski announced $3 million to support the reconstruction of Stewart street in Renfrew and over $750,000 for Bridge Street in Bonnechere Valley. The $3 million dollars Steward Street received is the highest payout available under the program. Yakabuski says that these projects qualify because they are provincial highways. Yakabuski says that the county is getting a fairly large chunk of the total annual funding.
The MPP says that the transportation system is crucial to Ontario’s economic growth. Any township with a connection to a provincial highway is eligible for the funding.
