If you want to make a community garden but don’t have the funds, the County of Renfrew is giving out grants for that.

The funding will be provided by the Social Services Relief Fund, so long as the gardens ensure physical distancing and that participants don’t enter the garden in groups of five or more. Warden Debbie Robinson said that community gardens play an important role in supporting people to grow their own produce and be outside in a healthy way during the outbreak. The Province of Ontario is also pitching in for this initiative, which the county says will allow individuals and families to grow fresh, affordable and healthy produce.

Those interested in submitting a project for funding should email Laura LePine at LLepine@countyofrenfrew.on.ca. Deadline for submissions is June 30th, and will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis.
