April 2nd will be officially recognized in Pembroke as World Autism Awareness Day.
Mayor Mike LeMay made the announcement in a press release and attributes it to Liberal Senator Jim Munson’s Bill for respecting World Autism Awareness Day.
Autism Spectrum Disorder affects more than 100,000 Ontarians, and is the most common neurological disorder impacting one in 94 children.
Since it is a spectrum, it manifests differently in each individual.
The day is being announced in conjunction with Autism Ontario.
