The Spring Frishet for the Madawaska River Watershed is over.

Madawaska Valley Fire Chief Cowin Quade (QUAD) who is overseeing water levels in the area, says that Bark Lake is in filling mode and they are allowing minimal water out of the Dam.

The water safety notice has been lifted for both the Madawaska and Bonnechere river systems. This means there will be no flooding this year for the Madawaska River waterway.

Quade said it does carry a risk of things drying out too quickly. He said as of today there are no active forest fires in the province of Ontario
