Renfrew OPP Reminds Residents of Park Closures During State of Emergency

Renfrew OPP is reminding residents about using recreational facilities as the weather gets warmer.

The detachment says with the weather improving, the state of emergency includes the closure of outdoor recreation spaces. They say that no person shall enter or use playgrounds, off leash dog parks, parks contating outdoor fitness equipment, Community gardens or picnic sites, benches or shelters. They also say that outdoor sports facilities like baseball diamonds, soccer fields, skate parks or basketball courts remain off limits as well. This applies to both public and privately owned areas.

OPP says these outdoor rec facilities may only be accessed for maintenance, safety or law enforcement. They say that walking through areas not otherwise closed, like green spaces or walking paths, are allowed so long as people practice physical distancing. They also remind residents that all provincial parks are closed due to COVID-19
