5 New Cases of COVID-19 in Renfrew County

A group of new coronavirus cases has appeared in Renfrew County.

-A woman in her 60’s was tested in Ottawa at the Brewer Area Assessment centre on March 16th and had no history of travel.

-Another woman in her 50’s tested positive in Perth on March 29th and has no travel associated with the case.

-A man in his 20’s developed mild symptoms on the 22nd and was tested at home by Renfrew County Paramedics. He has no travel history as well.

-A woman in her 30’s developed mild symptoms and was tested March 19th at home by Renfrew County Paramedics. Her case was associated with travel

-Another woman in her 30’s was admitted to Pembroke Regional Hospital and was tested March 27th. She has since been discharged and her case is associated with travel and close contact.

All people infected remain at home in isolation and are being monitored. The RCDHU says that all safety precautions were followed to ensure the safety of the public. The Unit is currently conducting case and contact management with appropriate individuals and organizations and all affected parties will receive instructions on self-isolation and self-monitoring.

Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr Robert Cushman says the unit is seeing more cases in the community and will continue to work with health system partners to ensure the safety of the Public. He continued to stress the need for physical distancing, saying it was everyone’s responsibility.
