Bonnechere Valley Mayor Jennifer Murphy attended the OGRA/ROMA Conference in Toronto where she tabled a question about sustainable funding for water services in small communities.
She says that the water and sewer rates are astronomical and draining resident’s pockets.

She also says that she has heard from residents in other townships that are paying $145 a month just for water.
She says that she is in talks with the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Glen Murray, and the issue is being worked on.
Currently the water and sewage system in Eganville is supporting 500 homes and costs $1 million a year to run.
