Madawaska Valley Food Bank Making Changes For Tuesday Session

With Tuesday coming up and the Madawaska Valley Food Bank doing one of its two monthly sessions, they are looking to take some extra precautions.

The bank is adopting a drive-through model to minimize contact between volunteers and clients. Board Member of the Bank Terry Newcombe says Clients will come through the ST. Lawrence O’Toole Church Parking lot where they will line up. After that he says, it’s a matter of just waiting in line. Clients will drive up to the window as directed by volunteers, and then tell the volunteer their name and how many people are in their family. They will then have their order loaded into the back of their car.

Newcombe also says that sanitation is at the top of mind for all people working at the bank. He says they are sanitiizing everything and having volunteers work on shifts to limit the risk to them and clients. Volunteers will be hand washing constantly.

The Bank is asking for cash and food donations those who are able to donate. He says you can also e-transfer your donation to [email protected]. He also says there are links on the Food Bank’s Facebook page for giving by Paypal or Canada Helps.

Newcombe encourages all those who are in need to come to the food bank.
