OFSC Trails To Close

After a series of events, snowmobile trails across Ontario are set to close on Saturday.
The OFSC made the decision in relation to both COVID-19 and the changing weather. OFSC Governor Cheryl Reid says while the virus itself isn’t the issues, the closing businesses are. She says that riders may have trouble finding services when they are on the trails due to the state of emergency.  She said the closure of businesses will put the safety of snowmobilers at risk.
But Reid also says the weather didn’t help that decision. She says that in addition to the outbreak, the changing trail conditions have made some trails unusable. She says that with creeks flowing now, trails have been reported washing out in a matter of hours. Reid also says while most trails still have snow, some roads have become impassable due to the rapidly changing conditions.
The Opeongo Trail Club will close its trails effective immediately. The OFSC says that anyone on the trails after midnight on Saturday will be considered trespassing.
