The Township of Madawaska Valley says a control group will meet as required to monitor any updates.

They say to listen to Renfrew County District Health Unit for updates and information.  They urge residents though to wash your hands often with soap or alcohol based hand sanitizers, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and cover your cough with a tissue or arm. The township says that it will maintain essential services with guidance from the health unit, and municipal offices will remain open for now. Residents are, however, encouraged to make payments online, use the after hours drop box, and contact staff by telephone.

The township will have a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the situation. They say that those experiencing symptoms to not attend the meeting, instead monitoring the township website for more information.

The Renfrew County District Health Unit says despite the cancellations and precautions, the risk of getting COVID-19 in Renfrew County is low.
