The Valley Manor has taken some extra steps to make sure that its residents are safe in the wake of COVID-19.
The Long Term care residence in Barry’s Bay will now implement mandatory screening for both visitors and staff. Trisha Sammon, CEO of Valley Manor’s Long-Term Care, says that they are working closely with government healthcare institutions to ensure the absolute safety of their residents and says their safety is of the utmost importance. She also says that the elderly patients in the Manor’s care are the most at risk due to the virus.
Visitors and staff will be greeted at the front by an employee. They will be required to sign in and have their temperature taken. They will also be offered hand sanitizer. If anyone has a fever or are sick in any way, they will be turned away.
Sammon says bottom line, you should wash your hands and if you are sick, you should stay home. She says that despite the extra precautions, the risk of getting COVID-19 in the area is still very low.
Sammon says the manor will provide information as they receive it from the ministry of health.
