Gold and Silver Comes Home to Barry’s Bay

An athlete from Barry’s Bay is returning home a winner from the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games with a gold and silver in snowshoe racing.
Devin McGrath took home the gold medal in the 5k snowshoe race with a time of 36 minutes and 22 seconds.
He won silver in the 800 metre race with a time of three minutes and 27 seconds.
The games hosted more than 800 athletes from all over Canada in Corner Brook Newfoundland.
The event is a qualifier for the 2017 Special Olympics Winter Games in Austria.
Brian Dinwoodie from Pembroke also made the trip home as a winner.
He won the gold in the 100 metre snowshoe race.
