Pembroke-Petawawa Community Foundation says Grants Open to Charities To Fund Special Programs

The Pembroke-Petawawa Community Foundation grants are open, and there are many things they can be used for.

Chair of the Granting Committee for the Pembroke Petawawa District Community Foundation Wendy Hewitt says while the grant will help many charities, there are some specific guidelines. She says that charities cannot use the grant money for day-to-day operations, instead using it to form special projects. She says funds can be allocated to a lot of different types of charity work, including education, environment, health and social welfare. On top of the general grant, she says there is also a bereavement grant used to help with projects related to grieving and hospice care. She said that last year the grant helped fund a butterfly release event with the Arnprior-Braeside-McNab Seniors Home.

The foundation says up to $10000 is up for grabs to community groups that fit their criteria. Hewitt says the first thing a group needs is a letter of intent, which will outline what project the group wants to fund. She says that if applicants fit the criteria, they will be invited to a formal application process in March. After March, they will go through the applications over several weeks, selecting candidates by May. Hewitt says they want to give as much grant money to as many organizations as possible.

Application forms can be found here.
