OPP’s SAVE Unit Nets Charges in Upper Ottawa Valley

OPP’s SAVE unit were on patrol on the snowmobiles trails in the region recently.
The Snowmobile, ATV and Vessel Enforcement Unit were on Patrol on Ontario Federation of Snowmobiles Clubs trails earlier this month. The SAVE unit says that during their patrols, they laid three charges. On February 1st, the unit charged a 47 year-old from Laurentian Valley with not wearing a helmet. That same day, the unit charged a 26 year old Ottawa Resident on Muskrat Lake with having an open bottle of liquor in  a public space. An addition charge was laid against a snowmobiler on Shaw Woods Road in North Algona-Wilberforce on Febrary 2nd. The 60 year old was charged with having open liquour in a vehicle. Police seized the alcohol.
The SAVE Unit patrols trails and lakes all four seasons and is focused on targeting high risk behaviours and education. They say regardless of season, they hope to enhance education on the trails.
