A carbon monoxide leak that closed the Paul J Yakabuski Centre on Saturday is currently being investigated.

A Technical Standard Safety Authority representative, the Chief Fire Official, Chief Building official and Madawaska Valley Township staff are on site trying to locate the sources of the leak, according to the Township. The source of the carbon monoxide will be verified and repaired, and then tested by the TSSA. The Madawaska Valley Fire Department says they suspect the source was from a propane heater. The township says that there are no substantial exposures beyond a moderate level that have been found as of yet.

Hospitals in the area have been alerted to the incident. The township says that if you were in attendance for the hockey game on February 1st and are still experiencing persistent headaches, nausea or vomiting, to go to the hospital.

The Arena remains closed today and will reopen once repairs have been carried out.
