Load restrictions are now in place on municipal roads in Hastings Highlands.
Starting today, a by-law is in effect which means vehicles are not allowed to carry more than five tons per axle.
Operations Manager, Adrian Tomasini, says the restrictions are in place to protect the roads.
Tomasini, says most residents should not be too concerned.
Tomasini says the goal is to protect the roads when frost starts coming out of the ground, as the surface will deteriorate if there’s a lot of weight put on it.
A similar by-law is also in effect for a stretch of Highway 62 from the A.N.A.F. road to the boundaries of Hastings Highlands and the Madawaska Valley.
