Bancroft OPP execute multiple warrents in connection with break and enters

Bancroft OPP has charged five people in relation to break and enters that happened in Bancroft and Hastings Highlands.

The police report they executed four search warrants between January 14th and 16th at properties in Bancroft and Hastings Highlands. The Bancroft OPP had help from the OPP’s East Region Street Crime Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Canine Unit along with officers from Bancroft’s OPP detachment.

43-year-old Paul Cummings of Bancroft has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of breaking and entering, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and theft of a motor vehicle.

39-year-old Nicholas Gulenchyn of Hastings Highlands has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of breaking and entering, and two counts of theft over $5,000.

42-year-old Allan Roy of Bancroft has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation.

32-year-old Christopher Simpson of Hastings Highlands has been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property under $5000 and failing to comply with release order.

30-year-old Amanda Hudson of Hastings Highlands has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, failing to comply with probation, and possession of a forged document.

All of the accused are due in court between January and February.

Police say they recovered a “large quantity” of stolen goods including a wood splitter, mini dirt bike, chainsaws, power tools, and fishing gear. Some of the owners have been reunited with their property, but the OPP says that if you have been the victim of a break and enter since fall 2019 and have not reported anything missing to reach out to the Bancroft OPP. They say you will need to provide proof of ownership before taking any items back home with you. You can contact the OPP at 613-332-2112.
