All schools in Renfrew County are closed.
As a result of rotating school strikes, both Renfrew County District Catholic and Public school boards are closing their locations.The public school board says that roles like Educational Assistants and School Support councillors are under the Elementary Teacher’s Federation of Ontario.They say that because they cannot guarantee safety and maintain a safe learning experience, they took the decision to close all the schools entirely.
Due to both elementary and secondary school catholic teachers being part of the Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association, the Renfrew County District Catholic School Board have chosen to cancel classes as well.
The Elementary, Secondary and Catholic teacher’s unions remain deadlocked with the province on issues like pay, class size and e-learning. All school boards in Ontario will experience some sort of job action by the end of this week.
