Renfrew County’s new strategic plan hopes to find efficiencies while still delivering top tier services.

The report was unveiled last month at a council meeting. The plan lists fiscal sustainability as a priority for the next few years. The county wants to continue with the long term financial plan while also being able to respond to changes in both provincial and federal governments. Also in the plan is a pledge to review all services in the county. The goal is to find cost savings while still meeting the needs of the community. The review will look over the needs of the county while also working with partners to find the most efficiencies.

The plan also looks to expand and maintain relations with all levels of government. The county wishes to inform the federal and provincial governments about the unique needs of the county so that they can get the resources they need to provide for their residents. They plan to advocate for issues that are important in the county and bend the ear of the other levels of government. The plan also lists technological acceleration as one of its goals. They hope to use technology to its full potential to benefit residents of the county. These include being a priority for the EORN project, lobbying for consistent radio systems for first responders, and lay the groundwork for a technology strategy for the county.

The county says a number of these goals are already underway and in different stages of development. The new plan will guide policy in the county until 2022.
