After 3 years in the position of Renfrew County Warden, Jennifer Murphy is bowing out of the role
The Mayor of Bonnechere Valley was presented with the honorary gavel at a ceremony in council last week.
The honours were presented by Councillors Robert Sweet and John Reinwald. Sweet praised the warden’s accomplishments in the last 3 years of office. He praised the implementation of the new strategic plan, expanding highway 17, and the creation of partnerships with Algonquins of Pikwakanagan and Garrison Petawawa. He also praised the work the Warden has done advancing the EORN project.
Councillor Reinwald said when Murphy came on board as Warden a large number of councillors did not have extensive experience. He also said a number of staffing changes created extra challenges. He praised Murphy’s leadership during this time, as well as the partnerships she forged during her time as Warden.
Murphy has dealt with a number of disasters during her time as Warden, including a tornado that touched down in Calabogie and two major floods.
A new warden will be chosen in the new year.
