Upper Ottawa Valley OPP has been cracking down on Child Pornography in Pembroke.
Two cases have resulted in child sex abuse charges in recent days. In the first, police were alerted to an unknown individual contacting a young person through an online ad. Police commenced the investigation when the communication became sexual in nature. A man was arrested last week after a search warrant was executed. An examination of devices at the residence revealed child sexual abuse material. As a result a 31-year-old man from Pembroke has been arrested and charged with possession of Child Pornography. He has also been charged with sending sexually explicit material to a child and luring a child.
In a second case, another Pembroke man was arrested after an investigation relating to the uploading of child sexual abuse images to the internet. Police say a warrant was executed sometime in July where several devices were seized. After forensic examination the devices were confirmed to have child sexual abuse material. As a result a 35 year-old Pembroke Man has been charged with two counts of child pornography. He has also been charged with making available child pornography. The accused has a court date in mid-December.
Both investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police. OPP say that if you believe that there is sexual abuse of a child going on to contact OPP. They say that they can also submit and anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers. OPP are reminding the public to speak with their children about internet safety to protect their child from sexual exploitation online. The force says that anyone interested in making a difference is encouraged to go to protectchildren.ca
