A fire has closed Hannah’s Chicken for the time being, according to the Madawaska Valley Fire Department.
The MVFD says it was paged to a fire on November 13th around 11:30 PM. The department responded with 16 firefighters and 5 vehicles. Fire Fighters arrived to find no visible flames but smoke coming out of the vents. They say that heavy smoke could be seen in the windows. They say the fire was found in the cooking area and was quickly extinguished. While the Department says the fire was contained to a small area, the smoke damage was extensive. The Department says that they were able to use fans to clear smoke from the building.
The cause of the fire has not been determined but it’s not deemed suspicious. The Department says they talked to the owner of Hannah’s Chicken, and said she hopes to reopen the business in the near future. The department estimates the cost of damages is around 60 thousand dollars.
