Libertarian Party’s Stefan Klietsch Pledges to Eliminate Monopolies, Regulations

The Libertarian Candidate in Renfrew Nipissing Pembroke is running for the party, but says he also has his own policies.

He says he’s running in the riding because it’s a place he grew up in. He says he loves Renfrew county, met amazing people in his time here, and says he believes that he has the integrity and dedication to bring about more substantive change that will improve quality of life in the riding. Klietsch says he wants to take away regulations that protect established interests from competition. He says he wants to get rid of monopolies that artificially inflate prices. He took aim in particular at the Canadian Dairy Board, which he says makes it practically illegal to get new Canadians into dairy farming without buying into the quota system. He says he wants to focus on protecting consumers and not producers. He also said he would want to increase salary work.

Klietsch says on top of his economic plans, he also wants to pass legislation to amend the constitution to improve quality of democracy. He says he wants to moderate the Prime Minister’s power, pass a requirement of two-thirds majority to prorogue parliament or call an early election. He says he also wants to clarify when a government loses confidence of the legislature, and limit the  powers of the senate to veto legislation, instead giving them the power to suspend or delay it. On Climate, Klietsch says the Libertarian Party doesn’t have a climate change policy that he could recall. However he says his personal policy to preventing climate change was a revenue neutral carbon tax that increases the price of carbon. He says as long as long as the right carbon price is in place, there is no need to complicate the process with regulations. He also says there should be no subsidies for alternative energy sources.

Klietsch says that even if he doesn’t win he is planning to run in each and every federal election until he’s elected. He says if people haven’t persuaded to vote for him now, he hopes they can vote for him in the future.
