Both the Renfrew County District School Board and the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board will remain open for the time being if CUPE strikes on Monday.

Both school boards made the statements on their respective pages on Thursday. Both school boards will provide transportation during the strike as well. However, certain school functions will not be available. The RCDSB says secondary athletic events and inter-district games will not take place as of Monday. School Cash Online and Community Use Permits will not function for the duration of the strike.

Only some of the schools in the RCCDSB are serviced by CUPE employees, according to the press release from the Board. These schools include St. John Bosco in Barry’s Bay, St. Francis of Assisi in Petawawa, Holy Name, Our Lady of Lourdes and Bishop Smith Catholic High School in Pembroke, George Vanier in Combermere, St. Andrew’s in Killaloe and St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Renfrew.

Both school boards say they are monitoring the situation, and will post any new information as it comes about.
