Upper Ottawa Valley OPP had a jewelry heist on their hands.

The detachment responded to an alarm at a jewelry retailer in eastern Pembroke last Friday around 9:30 PM. Police discovered the business had been broken into and the suspect had fled before they had arrived. Police deployed Forensic services and the Canine Unit, but the suspect was not located at the time.

As a result of the investigation, the community street crime unit arrested and charged a 29 year old man on Tuesday. He was charged with break, enter and committing an indictable offence. The accused was held for a bail hearing. Police also say they executed a search warrant in relation to the incident on Wednesday, and further charges are pending. Police say a quantity of jewelry, including gold chains and crosses, remains missing. Anyone with information is asked to call OPP or Crime Stoppers.
