Family Dispute in Pembroke Results in Charges

A man in Pembroke who’s family dispute turned violent has been arrested by police.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to the dispute on Carmody Street in the City of Pembroke just after midnight on September 29th. Police say the suspect made threats to them, damaged a family member’s residence, and refused to co-operate with officers. Residents in the multi-unit building were evacuated until the situation was resolved for public safety reasons. The police’s Tactics and Rescue Unit made entry into the residence and brought the suspect into custody around 5 AM.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old from Pembroke has been charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and two counts failure to comply with recognizance. The accused also faces one charge of failing to comply with probation and mischief over $5000. The suspect was held for a bail hearing and will appear in court in Pembroke on Monday.
