The Brand New United Way East Ontario has unveiled its new name with a special fall campaign.

The new organisation combines the United Ways of Renfrew County, Lanark, Prescott-Russel and Ottawa. The amalgamation happened in 2017, with the Tuesday announcement being the first official event.  Regional Director Jade Nauman said uniting the four organizations would help tackle problems in Renfrew county, and problems that transcend neighborhood borders. Despite the larger scope, Nauman said United Way remains committed to 100% local impact and making sure every dollar that is raised in the county stays in the county. She says the greatest challenges requires the force of all people, and that United Way was not focused on dollars raised, but by making a strong impact on the community.

The event also included recognition of volunteers who had worked with United Way. This year’s volunteers, Rolland and Lynn Kelly of Deep River, have volunteered extensively in the area, especially at the local hospital. Their names will be displayed on a special wall in the United Way’s offices in Pembroke.
